Re: When The Doors Close
You waited 6 days to post a reply to me? Hell, I had forgotten about the thread-lol.
Again we see Lee used as the negative on consolidation. Why? Because it's the only one that folks can find
I've made my case and points on this subject, expressed my views/thoughts. This has become a dead-horse topic. I have currently moved on to a more active thread.

Re: When The Doors Close
Lee is the best and most local example that comes to mind. It helps to use an example that people are familiar with. If were going to get into that, then how about a few good examples of consolidation.. ones where everyone was happy and everyone involved got a fair shake... not easy huh?
I feel I have made my case on this as well though... because no one even answered my first post. No one answers the points, and now you only attack my example.. lol

Re: When The Doors Close
I gave you examples earlier in the thread. Let's see: Letcher County High School, East Ridge High School,a couple more from upstate- Rockbridge High School, Hidden Valley High School...later

Re: When The Doors Close
Letcher County? Thats a laugh. Kentucky can ORDER its counties to consolidate their schools, unlike VA, and that is what happened, not only with Letcher but East Ridge as well.
The people in Letcher County were not at all happy about consolidating their schools. But they didnt have a choice. You are proceeding from a lack of information and a false assumption.

Re: When The Doors Close
Kentucky doesn't order that, neither does VA (the counties take care of that. If that weren't the case, consolidation would have already happened) As for lack of information and false assumptions, I am afraid it is you that have cornered the market on that. How many people from Letcher have you taken the time to talk to about this? I have spoken to more than my fair share, and to a man what I have heard is "At first we hated the idea, but had to do what was best for our kids. Now when folks see our school, we have alot of pride. We have athletic facilities that are nice instead of ragged, nice classrooms..etc".

Re: When The Doors Close
Can't speak for anyone at Lecher Co. BUT I wouke with several over from the east ridge area and they can't stop singing the praises of the new school and one will tell you that they were dead set against it when it was firt mentioned. Twin Vally Parents will also tell you that the Consoladated school was for the best in that situation as well and as far as long term goes PV did well when East Stone and Big Stone consoladated back in the day

Re: When The Doors Close
Exactly! Thanks for the positive testimony.

Re: When The Doors Close
It wouldn't help sports because you would have kids that used to be rivals playing together and everyone one forget about teamwork.
-
Re: When The Doors Close
Consolidation is not about sports. It's about the students.

Re: When The Doors Close
I know sometimes we have to remind ourselves over and over again, But you are right sports are not the most important thing.
